The North York’s Women Shelter wanted to showcase their newly renovated space with a video tour. We understood what they were looking for after the first conversation. We took a welcoming approach to the video and let the spaces and artwork tell the story.
“In 2017 we set out on a mission to design and build an innovative, therapeutic, trauma-informed shelter that would provide holistic care on-site. Through government funding and community support, we were able to realize our vision. Designed in consultation with survivors, we were able to build a 24,000 sq foot emergency shelter and anti-violence collective.
When we reached out for community support, we named it the HER campaign. HER stands for Healing, Empowerment, and Refuge, all three of which you can feel within the walls of NYWS- every day. Today, it’s my honour to share the visual of the impact your gifts have had. While we will never tour the shelter to protect the confidentiality, privacy, and safety of residents, we wanted to be able to show you the impact of your investment in NYWS. And so, today, I’m proud to present the NYWS Virtual Tour.
North York Women’s Shelter is an emergency shelter and anti-violence collective built by community for community. NYWS’s innovative space is a testament and constant visual reminder that when dedicated people join for the shared goal and mission of ending gender-based violence, there is no limit to possibility.
Your support helped us build this transformative space.
Your support helps us keep it in operation so we can support survivors of violence across the GTA.
Thank you for joining us in our mission.”
