Large institutes, particularly educational ones, often need video production for a variety of reasons. One of the most common reasons we are approached by such organisations is to document events, such as awards ceremonies, openings and graduations. At VCM we appreciate marketing budgets are tighter than ever and yet the amount of content we need to produce to keep visible in todays saturated communication channels is vast. It is because we appreciate budgets are tight that we NEVER take on a project where we do not think the client will get value for money and receive a final video that will prove to be a valuable resource. What’s more, we offer expert video marketing consultation in order to make sure that wen you have that great final video that you utlise it in the best possible way so that you receive great return on investment.
The University of Western Ontario approached us as they wanted to create a high value video production for their Achievement Awards. For many of the Western Universities events and promotions they often charge their media department and students to make the content so as to give the experience and to save money. However in this particular instance they wanted professionals to make videos featuring their Achievement Award winners as they had the budget and they wanted production values that reflected the prestigiousness of the awards.
Those in charge of the awards provided VCM with the list of winners and asked us to create 90 second short videos that highlighted each winners life and work. We decided we would go to the University and film these individuals in their workplace doing what they do day in and day out. We also asked each individual to provide archive photos so we could tell a bit of backstory of their lives.
Western also asked us to create bespoke moving title graphics that could top and tail the videos and that they could also use in at the actually ceremony to brand the event. The creative team at VCM sat down and brainstormed some ideas based on the existing digital branding assets the university already had.
