Bringing the Right Energy to Your Corporate Video Production

Digital marketing is evolving and the latest trends are favoring videos. YouTube is now the most popular site currently online and viewers have been known to watch more than 500 million hours of video per day on the site. In fact, more than 80% of marketers use video for marketing.

While these figures can be encouraging, they can also be intimidating. They indicate that while there is a lot of opportunity for those who make use of this tool, there is also a lot of competition for attention.

The science behind effective corporate video production

In order to be effective with corporate video production, it’s important to understand how the brain processes information and how to convey an effective, concise message.

The brain can process images in a matter of milliseconds. It can use this information to make a decision in less than a second. As a viewer watches a clip, there are billions of neurons firing in the brain. They act to process images and sound quickly to allow the viewer to make a decision within seconds.

However, because of the speed at which information is processed, the brain uses shortcuts to make sense of this massive amount of information. We process information based on our memory, previous experiences and expectations. In other words, our biases help us make decisions.

It is important to remember this during video production process. Your biases will influence what you think of yourself and the image you present to your audience.

Tips for better corporate video production

Getting in front of a camera can be intimidating for many people. This is especially when you realize that the image you present can either make or break your video. The energy you bring to the shoot will affect how your audience perceives you and your brand. Not enough energy can present you as boring or disinterested while too much energy can scare off your audience.

The following tips will help you present yourself as natural and comfortable when you get in front of that camera.

  1. Get motivated

There aren’t many people who like being in front of the camera. However, by finding some motivation, you can do a great job even if you’re not a natural. Positive reinforcement will go a long way in ensuring that you do a great job. We always encourage using an internal talent that is a natural authority to the subject matter.

  1. Practice

Getting that perfect shot often requires more than one take. Any professional corporate videographer will allow you to do some test takes before the actual shooting. A test take is a great way to rehearse the shoot and perfect it.  You can adjust various points and ensure that you get it right in the final take.  Sometimes these takes are actually used in the edit because they are natural and may be encapsulate the best performance.

  1. Do multiple takes

Getting the perfect shot isn’t easy. It takes several tries to get the right effect. Don’t be afraid to have multiple takes. You’re more likely to get a better result than if you were to do fewer takes and dive right into the editing only to find that some shots were off.

  1. Have a sense of humour

Don’t take everything so seriously. Learn to laugh off your mistakes and try to have fun while making the video. It’s not the end of the world when you mess up. You can give it another try. Learning to shake it off whenever you mess up is a skill that can make a big difference.
